Update Corona Virus We R Asia

Scroll down for English version.

Last week we put out an article about the actions we take concerning the Corona Virus. This week we’ve got some important updates about the current situation and the consequences for the productions.

Even though de exact numbers can’t be announced amongst the public, the amount of infections by the Corona Virus doesn’t seem to rise exponential. It seems to stabilize. Luckily, we’re close to the information source, because our Chinese colleagues know the most important updates from their region; though the prescriptions differ from provinces and cities. That’s why some Chinese people already started working, but also, a lot of them stayed at home yet another week. Like our colleague Schumi, who’s still in quarantaine for the time being because he’s in an area with a higher risk of infection. Gladly, this morning we saw a positive news item in the ‘Algemeen Dagblad’: Slowly manufacturers pick up their activities again.

So, the first manufacturers started their production again. However, an amount of manufacturers postpone their activities for at least another week. Our own colleagues in China don’t take any risk either, and are working from home. That’s the most safe and healthy solution for our people at this point. In the meantime they keep in touch with our suppliers and prepare ongoing orders, if possible. We’re expecting our people – except for Schumi – to be back at the office on Monday 17th February.

However, this doesn’t mean our suppliers are back at the 17th. We keep in touch on a daily base to gauge when they will start the productions, so we can manage the expectations of our customers. But even íf they start, they won’t be operational right away, because not everyone is out of quarantaine yet. Luckily most manufacturers have employees from a lot of different provinces in China. This geographical spread ensures a gradual growth of available employees the coming weeks.

Altogether we think this is some positive news. Still we have to be patient before the production will fully get going.
